Rick Karsdorp’s agent demands ‘an explanation’ from Jose Mourinho and Roma after the coach openly blamed the player for ‘betraying’ the team in a draw with Sassuolo.
The Special One was livid after the 1-1 stalemate at the Mapei Stadium, stating in several post-match interviews that the team was ‘betrayed by one player’ who had an ‘unprofessional attitude.’
Many have identified Karsdorp as the man in question, with Mourinho warning the Dutchman needed to ‘find a new club in January.’
“I am surprised by Mourinho’s comments,” Karsdorp’s agent Johan Henkes told Nos.
“We want an explanation. We are stunned also that everyone is pointing the finger at Rick, without Mourinho or Roma saying his name.
“We demand an explanation from the club on what the coach said and the way in which he did it. This is not the way you treat a player who has been at Roma for five years.”
Karsdorp came on as a late substitute and sluggishly ran back on the incident allowing Andrea Pinamonti to equalise after the Tammy Abraham opener.
