Loris Karius’s partner, Diletta Leotta, says the German keeper is ‘happy’ at Newcastle United but hopes he will ‘get closer’ to the family in the future, hinting at a possible Serie A transfer.
Diletta Leotta is one of the most popular television presenters in Italy. She’s been covering the most important Serie A games for many years and has been dating Newcastle keeper Karius since 2022. One year later, in August 2023, their first daughter, Arian was born.
The Italian presenter lives in Milan, while Karius plays for Newcastle, so Diletta hopes an Italian club will try to sign his partner in the near future.
“I hope so. He has a year left in his contract, and he’s happy at Newcastle, but those who do this work always have a suitcase ready. I’d understand any move, but I hope he can get closer,” Leotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Karius often comes to Italy to spend time with his family.
“He takes many flights,” said Leotta.
“Whenever he has a day off, he comes here even for just 24 hours.”
Karius’ contract with Newcastle expires in June 2024, so he will be available to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club from January unless he gets a new deal at St. James’ Park by the end of the year.
The 30-year-old has yet to make his 2023-24 debut with Newcastle this season. The Germany goalkeeper has made one appearance with the Magpies since joining the club on a free transfer in September 2022.
