Milan hope to have Nikola Kalinic back against Crotone on Saturday, but there are problems for Ignazio Abate and Marco Storari.

The final game before the January break is on Saturday afternoon at San Siro.

Kalinic missed the draw with Fiorentina last weekend due to an ankle injury he sustained in the 1-0 Coppa Italia Quarter-Final victory over Inter.

“The best news comes from Kalinic, as he had a strong trauma to the ankle, but is recovering and we are counting on his availability for this week’s training sessions,” chief medic Doctor Mazzoni told Milan TV.

“Abate suffered a lesion, damaging an old calf strain, but he is improving rapidly and we’ll evaluate him day by day. Gabriel Paletta had a knock to the upper thigh in training, we’ll see how he develops, but it’s more reasonable to say we’ll have him available after the break.

“Jose Mauri’s ankle has improved, but the player was out for a month and is now trying to get some match fitness.”

The worst news is for goalkeeper Storari, who pulled out of the Coppa Italia game in the warm-up.

“It is a more serious injury, as there is a lesion to the calf muscle. At this moment it is difficult to make a long-term prognosis, so we have decided to re-evaluate him at the end of the week to have a clearer idea.”
