Nikola Kalinic said he is “happy” at Roma after scoring his first goals for the club in today’s 4-3 victory away to Cagliari.

The centre-forward bagged a brace, his first in Serie A since 2017, and also set up Justin Kluivert with an assist.

“I played the way I always do, trying to give 100 per cent for the team,” the Croatia international told Sky Sport Italia.

“The important thing was to win, as it is always difficult to play here. Cagliari are strong on home turf and these are three very important points.

“We’ll take it one game at a time, see what happens next against Sampdoria and not try to look too far forward.”

Kalinic had a rare start this evening, allowing Edin Dzeko to rest.

“We talk all the time. It’s not easy to score all the time. It’s good for me and the team that we got the result tonight.”

The forward is only on loan from Atletico Madrid, so does he want his future to remain at Roma?

“You’d have to ask the club, not me. I am here, I am happy, I think only about football and that is what matters.”
