Genoa’s Kakha Kaladze has admitted that Friday’s Serie A game against Milan will be an emotional one for him.

The Georgian international, 33, spent almost a decade at Milanello before his August 2010 switch to Marassi.

“Playing against Milan will never be a game like the others for me,” the centre-back commented. “I owe everything to the Rossoneri and I will be eternally grateful to them.

“I’m very happy at Genoa now though. I’ve settled really well into the city, the atmosphere around the club is great and the fans are fantastic.”

Milan paid €16m to Dynamo Kiev for Kaladze in 2001 and he played in a variety of positions for them – left-back, centre-back and in central midfield on occasions.

Kaladze has appeared in seven Serie A games for the Rossoblu so far this season.
