The Brazilian gave a lengthy interview to La Gazzetta dello sport ahead of the Milan derby and discussed issues surrounding both sides of the city.

“My wish is that they manage to save at least some architectural elements of San Siro,” said Kaka.

The Brazilian gave a lengthy interview to La Gazzetta dello sport ahead of the Milan derby and discussed issues surrounding both sides of the city.

“My wish is that they manage to save at least some architectural elements of San Siro,” said Kaka.
“I understand that football is a business, but feelings cannot be stopped, something should remain of the stadium.
“The Maracana has changed many times and is no longer the same, but there is still history behind it.”
Both sides have changed ownership since Kaka played for Milan, and the former midfielder says both sides need to spend money if they are to return to the upper echelons of the European game.
“There are many economic problems with Milan, but I see that their position in the table has improved.
“However I wish that above all that the owners of Milan, and Inter, start to invest in order to return to the top level.
“The moment is now, both clubs are historic teams, Milan is a beautiful city and Italy is a wonderful country. It makes me sad that we don’t see the Milanese teams in the latter stages of the Champions League.
“I believe that it is a vicious cycle, with the revenue from the Champions League, you can buy better players and return to the highest level.”
The Rossoneri have constantly stated that they are under financial fair play restrictions, and are limited in their spending power, but Kaka says you have to spend.
“I understand that [about FFP], but if you don’t invest enough then you can’t have a quality team, and therefore don’t qualify for important tournaments. It’s vicious cycle.”
Kaka played alongside Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo whilst at Real Madrid, and says he’s impressed by his hunger to win, even at 35.
“He is truly has infinite hunger. With everything that he has done in the game, it would be human to change, but he is still motivated.
“It’s very impressive.”
Kaka retired at 35, and felt that he no longer had the desire to continue himself.
“In the last year at Orlando City I really thought hard about it, whether to continue playing or not.
“But at a certain point I understood that, if I was asking myself if I could carry on, it was already over.
“I made the right choice, and I don’t regret retiring, I don’t miss playing.”
Kaka had been linked with a return to Milan as a director, but says now isn’t the time.
“I have the desire to return, but the time isn’t correct. I would like to work with Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban, to help the club, and improve everything.
“However it’s not the moment to leave Brazil. For now I will follow the derby from far away."
