The Brazilian playmaker terminated his contract at Milan this week in order to join new American franchise Orlando City.
But the trequartista has admitted that a pair of clubs in Central America were interested in his services this summer.
“Club America and Monterrey asked me if I wanted to come to Mexico to play, but I said no because I wanted to play in the MLS,” he told reporters.
“It was difficult to leave Milan, but I think that made the right decision at the right time.”
Kaka will spend three months on loan at Sao Paulo before joining the Florida outfit full time.
