The former Milan boss was something of a surprise pick and opens up some intriguing transfer prospects.

“I do believe that Leonardo's arrival could facilitate Kaka's move to Inter,” agent and transfer expert Antonio Caliendo told Sky Sport Italia.

“He can do very well and already proved great character on the Milan bench. However, I think it very difficult we'll see a straight swap between Kaka and Douglas Maicon mid-season.”

The story has been circulating for some time, especially as Leonardo was the talent scout responsible for bringing Kaka to Milan in the first place.

However, the 28-year-old released a statement on the official Real Madrid website.

“The Inter rumours are fantasy football. I am happy here and am not even considering a departure.”

Leonardo will formally begin training with his new squad on December 29.
