Former Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has tipped Rossoneri defender Matteo Gabbia for a role within Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team set-up after the recent in the Derby della Madonnina, and has also insisted that Paulo Fonseca’s side are not out of the Scudetto conversation.

Kaka was in the city of Milan on Wednesday for an EA Sports FC 25 event, and briefly stopped to speak to journalists from SportMediaset.

The Brazilian believes that his former side will be in the fight for the Serie A title if they are able to continue performing in the same way that they did when they beat rivals Inter 2-1 in San Siro over the weekend.

Kaka also believes that the scorer of the late winner, Matteo Gabbia could have a role to play for the national team if he gets more opportunities in Paulo Fonseca’s starting line-up.

Kaka: ‘Good title prospects’ for Milan

“Milan sent a great message after what happened against Liverpool. Winning against Inter while playing well was a good response. If the Rossoneri continue to play as they did in the derby, there are good prospects for the championship,” Kaka said.

Though currently in seventh place after five matches, Milan are only three points off Torino at the top of the table after Sunday’s win against Inter.

“We saw a team with a different, very good attitude,” Kaka continued. “Leao is a player I like a lot, he has strength, quality and technique. We have to support him, he can help this Milan team a lot.”

When asked about Gabbia’s recent performances, Kaka added: “He can also help the national team. Another Rossoneri for the Azzurri.”
