Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo’s future at the Allianz Stadium is uncertain, with several big names in the running for the job at the Old Lady.
The speculation regarding Pirlo’s future at Continassa continues and La Gazzetta dello Sport highlights the club has not confirmed he will continue next season.
But the former midfielder, who replaced Maurizio Sarri at the helm ahead of 2020-21, is convinced he has done enough to stay, picking up two trophies in his first season as a coach – the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia.
The newspaper reports he went straight to the headquarters at Continassa when the team returned from Bologna, where they secured the important place in the Champions League next season thanks to a 4-1 win at the Renato Dall’Ara.
Reports in Italy have suggested Allegri could return to the Juventus bench and tonight the two will meet in the annual charity match ‘Partita del Cuore 2021’ (Match of the Heart).
La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, lists the different hypotheses as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus could all change coaches this summer and the same names appear on every wish list.
Real Madrid coach Zidane has been tipped to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after a trophyless season in the Spanish capital and was linked with a move to Turin too.
But Zizou has made it clear that he prefers a return to France, where he wants to take over the national side after Didier Deschamps.
PSG are also contemplating changing coach only six months after having signed former Tottenham Hotspur tactician Pochettino, and director Leonardo has always wanted Allegri at the helm in the French capital.
Pochettino, on the other hand, has been linked with the Real Madrid job in La Liga, where Allegri is still in the running, according to the newspaper.
The conundrum continues, because if Allegri and Zidane go elsewhere, who will be available to replace Pirlo at Juventus.
The newspaper mentions talks about Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi, who will meet with patron Claudio Lotito, whilst Gennaro Gattuso is available after confirming he will not stay at Napoli.
Those are names that will most likely be mentioned in links with the Bianconeri in the coming weeks, but the report underlines another hot name in Serie A; Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 63-year-old has helped Atalanta to the Champions League three years in a row and continued to prove he has what it takes to challenge the giants.
