Juventus are monitoring the situation of Schalke's outside forward Jefferson Farfan with a view to a bid in the summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Juventus scouts were at the Mestalla on Tuesday to watch Schalke play Valencia in the Champions League.

Farfan has averaged 15 goals a season in his career so far and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Schalke manager Felix Magath has tended to use the 26-year-old Peru international on both flanks this year, leaving Juventus under no illusion as to his versatility.

Juventus are in no hurry to close a deal for Farfan, but share an interest nonetheless. He would cost nothing, earns no more than €2m a season, has Champions League experience and can be used on the right and the left.

Reports claim Juventus have already registered their interest with the player's agent.

However, it's thought that Juventus face competition from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.
