Juventus hope to continue their strong start to the season, as they host a struggling Verona side at the Allianz Stadium. The Bianconeri have dropped just seven points out of an available 27 and find themselves comfortably in the Serie A top three ahead of match day 10.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side have good reason to be confident as they prepare for Saturday’s game, as they come up against an out-of-sorts Verona team. The Gialloblu have not won a game since match day two and have lost four of their last five games. Marco Baroni’s side have lost their last three against their hosts and it would be no surprise to see a fourth defeat this weekend.
The Bianconeri’s defence has been particularly impressive in recent weeks, securing four consecutive clean sheets. Admittedly, last weekend’s win over Milan was impacted by an early red card for the Rossoneri, but it will have vastly boosted morale in the face of off-pitch scandals. Another Juventus clean sheet could well be on the cards again.
Unsurprisingly for many Juventus fans, their strong back line has come at the cost of offensive output. Allegri has long faced criticism for conservative play, as displayed by his decision to take off Moise Kean against a ten-man Milan side. Juventus have scored two or fewer in all of their last five games and have averaged only a one-goal winning margin against Verona over their last three games.
The Gialloblu’s slow starts have resulted in defeats at half time and full time in five of their last seven games. This would fit the script of an early Juventus goal allowing them to rest on their laurels and protect their lead for much of the game. A bet on the hosts to win both halves and to score under 2.5 goals could well pay off.
That being said, Allegri should be able to welcome his two top attacking talents back here. Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa may not be at their sharpest, but their individual talent could make the difference against a deep-sitting Verona side. Vlahovic is favourite to score anytime on Saturday and extend his lead as Juventus’ top goalscorer this season.

Darko Lazovic is expected to be rewarded for his recent goal with a start on Saturday, which could see Cyril Ngonge dropped or pushed into the centre forward position. Marco Baroni shifted to a back four at half time against Napoli but will revert to Verona’s standard back three against Juventus.
