The full-back’s negotiations over a new deal have turned into a long-running saga, with the 30-year-old being linked with moves to Arsenal, Inter and even Roma in recent weeks.

The Bianconeri had been reported as €1m short of Lichtsteiner’s €3m per season asking price.

Now, though, Tuttosport reports that Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has improved the Old Lady’s offer to €2.5m per season.

While that is still short of the former Lazio man’s demands, the Turin-based newspaper believes that Lichtsteiner’s entourage has been encouraged by Juve’s willingness to move on the wage issue.
