According to the latest reports, Roma would be prepared to sell Nicolò Zaniolo for just €40m, as Juventus, Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a summer swoop.

The comments from Giallorossi general manager Tiago Pinto this week sparked a great deal of speculation on the player’s future, as the director “cannot guarantee” Zaniolo will remain at the Stadio Olimpico next season.

His contract runs to June 2024 and negotiations over an extension seem to have hit problems.

This raises the question of how much would Zaniolo cost to purchase over the summer and the answer is surprisingly little in the modern marketplace.

According to Calciomercato.it, Roma would be prepared to sell the Italy international for just €40m.

The 22-year-old was purchased from Inter at a cost of €4.5m in the summer of 2018, before he had even made his Serie A debut, as part of an exchange deal involving Radja Nainggolan.

He had two devastating knee injuries, but still contributed four goals and five assists in 26 competitive games so far this season.

Sky Sport Italia warn much will depend on whether Roma qualify for the Champions League, as missing out could force some book-balancing transfers.

The Friedkin family have already invested €535m over the last 18 months, with the club’s debts still at a massive €322m.

  1. Sign Gravenbech instead. Zaniolo is a great talent, but injury proned, so it will be a bad aquisition.

40 millions for life time injured player? So costly
Don’t repeat the mistakes in chiesa, bernardeschi, and vlahovic cases

  3. @GeoVIc, Gravenberch won’t be going to Roma. That is out of the question, why would he take a step down by going to Roma? At Ajax he is way better of.
