According to several reports, Juventus and Monza will meet on July 31 in a new edition of the Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi.

The ‘Trofeo Berlusconi’ is an annual summer friendly usually taking place at San Siro between Milan and Juventus.

It was founded in 1991 by at-the-time Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi in memory of his father Luigi.

The Rossoneri faced a different opponent than Juventus only five times in history, meeting Inter in 1992, Real Madrid in 1993 and Bayern Munich in 1994. The Rossoneri faced San Lorenzo and, once again, Inter, in the most recent editions.

It was last played in 2105, two years before the end of Berlusconi’s Milan Presidency.

Monzanews and Telelombardia report a new edition will be played at the end of the month, with Juventus taking on Monza, the Serie B side acquired by Berlusconi in 2018.

Tuttosport confirms the game will take place at Monza’s UPower Stadium on July 31, but it is still unclear whether fans will be allowed in to attend the match.

The two clubs are expected to confirm the friendly with an official statement in the coming days.
