Juventus transfer target Angel Di Maria has said he plans to stay in Europe for one more season before returning to his native Argentina.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger is expected to leave PSG at the end of the season when his contract runs out after seven years at the club.

He has been linked with a move to Juve should his PSG contract not be renewed and the Bianconeri’s hopes of signing Di Maria were boosted when he said he has no plans to leave Europe just yet.

“My idea is to stay in Europe for another year so I can go to the World Cup in the best possible shape if I’m called up, and then I would go back to Argentina” he told Todo Pasa, a show on Argentinian radio station Urbana Play.

“I don’t know if PSG want me to stay. If not, I will look at possibilities at other teams in Europe.”

Di Maria is a Champions League and LaLiga winner with Real Madrid, while he has also won five league titles in France.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to leave the French champions at the end of the season and the question over Di Maria’s future may well rest with his successor.

Juve have become known for snapping up free transfers over recent seasons with Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Dani Alves, Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey among those who joined without a fee.

  1. CALMA using the Lord’s name in vein and the Max part, but it is okay. Di Maria is still a good player but with Matic being linked, Omicron variant 2.0 slow and the Marlboro director Arrivabene are building back older, slower and wiser.
