Juventus talent Mohamed Ihattaren is set to join Ajax on loan after failing to settle in Italy.

The 19-year-old Dutch midfielder was signed by the Bianconeri on a four-year deal from PSV Eindhoven last summer, in a deal worth around €2m. He was immediately loaned out to Sampdoria, but he never made an appearance for the club, struggling to settle in well in the Ligurian capital.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Ihattaren is only a step away from returning to the Netherlands, joining Ajax on an 18-month loan deal with a buy option attached.

The Dutch midfielder has been noted for his disciplinary and attitude issues in the past, and the tragic death of his father from cancer in October 2019 only exacerbated things. The player was close with his father and has struggled to maintain consistency following his passing. Ihattaren will be hoping to find his footing again in his homeland with Ajax.

  1. Leaving the option to buy is a mistake. This player is incredibly talented and if he finds his form he could be worth 30-40 million, or even more than that.

  2. a headcase like this? If anything Ajax should be happy that it is a option and not a obligation. i mean he barely trained the last 6 months.
