The Polish stopper relaced the former Italy captain as Juve’s No. 1 but asked if he plans to follow in his predecessor’s footsteps and beyond his 40th birthday, he told Przegld Sportowy: “I am Wojciech Szczesny, not Gianluigi Buffon. I won’t play as long as he did.
“My plan for now is to finish my contract with Juventus and perhaps play for two more seasons in Spain.”
The Poland No. 1 said he hopes to see out the reminder of his contract and joked that so many other goalkeepers have been linked with replacing him, he worries when there are no reports.
He added: “I have a three-year contract and, obviously, if they want me in Turin, I’d like to see it out. In the years I’ve been here, so many goalkeepers were supposed to take my place but I have got used to it.
“Now I worry when they don’t say anything about the new Juve goalkeeper.”
Though initially arriving as back-up to Buffon, the position was rotated and the ex-Italy goalkeeper left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018.
In all, Szczesny has won two Serie A and Coppa Italia titles at Juve.
