Moreno Torricelli believes Juventus can still fight for the Scudetto, despite a disastrous start to the season.

The Bianconeri lost to Sassuolo last night, their fourth defeat in 10 Serie A games, but the former full-back, who won the Champions League with the Old Lady, is sure they’ll be back.

“It’s difficult to pinpoint a single reason for the crisis facing Juventus in this first part of the season,” Torricelli admitted in an interview with Calciomercato.

“I think the blame should be shared, from the coaching staff, to the directors, to the team. There’s certainly work to be done, but I’m convinced the Bianconeri can get back to fighting for the Scudetto.

“The likes of [Andrea] Pirlo, [Carlos] Tevez and [Arturo] Vidal have left, and it’s almost impossible to replace them, but the newcomers are good players.

“It’s a quality squad, we have to give Allegri time, and especially the young players. As I said, I’m sure Juve will soon be back to their best.”

Juve have gone into ritiro after last night’s defeat, meaning the players will stay at the training ground until after Saturday’s derby with Torino.

“It’s the right choice, it will allow the squad to be together, to look at each other and find the spirit they need to get out of a situation like this.

“The game against Torino comes at the right time, a derby can give a special stimulus. This game could be a turning point.”
