Juventus star Angel Di Maria is hoping to be fit enough to start the World Cup Final for Argentina against France, where he could face his Bianconeri teammate Adrien Rabiot.

El Fideo has been struggling with muscular problems all season since the move from PSG to Turin as a free agent.

The 34-year-old started the first three games of the World Cup in Qatar before limping off during the 2-0 victory over Poland on November 30.

He was left on the bench throughout the encounters with Australia and Croatia, making only an eight-minute substitute appearance in the extra time quarter-final with the Netherlands.

According to TyC Sports, Di Maria is back training regularly with the rest of the Argentina squad and hopes to at least feature off the bench in the Final on Sunday, but could even be in the starting XI.

Lautaro Martinez of Inter and Roma’s Paulo Dybala should again be dropped to the bench.
