Juventus and Italy star Federico Chiesa is set to have surgery on Sunday in Innsbruck on his torn anterior cruciate ligament after several delays.

He sustained the injury 10 days ago during the 4-3 Serie A victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Despite the diagnosis coming immediately, he has still not gone under the knife.

It was decided at first to forego the usual Villa Stuart in Rome route and instead visit a specialist in Innsbruck, Austria.

Chiesa was then meant to have the operation last week, but it was delayed for various reasons, the latest being flu symptoms that left him with a fever.

Naturally, there were concerns he might’ve contracted COVID-19, but the swabs came back negative.

According to Tuttosport, he has now recovered, will be allowed to travel and should go under the knife in Austria on Sunday.

He is expected to be out of action for at least six to eight months.
