Juventus have identified Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz as a strong option to bolster the squad as they try to resolve the Adrien Rabiot situation.

The Bianconeri are gearing up for an important summer transfer window as they prepare to welcome new coach Thiago Motta, and one key issue that needs resolving is their French midfielder’s future. He currently has just over a month left on his deal in Turin.

Juventus do not want to lose Rabiot and have drawn up a new two-year contract to try and convince him to stay in the Piedmont capital, but they don’t want to be caught empty-handed and have identified a possible replacement in the Aston Villa squad.

Page eight of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Juventus are interested in making a move for Douglas Luiz this summer should Rabiot ultimately depart, believing the Aston Villa midfielder could be a strong fit for the squad in Turin.

The 26-year-old is valued at around €40m, a lofty fee, but the inclusion of Weston McKennie or Matias Soule could help lower the costs of a deal with Aston Villa, who are preparing for their Champions League campaign under Unai Emery.
