Juventus have reportedly warned Borussia Monchengladbach they are prepared to wait and sign Denis Zakaria for free if they don’t accept the €5m plus €2m bonuses offer.

The proposal was rejected today, seemingly because the Bundesliga outfit want to get €7m guaranteed for the midfielder, despite the fact he is in the final five months of his contract.

It’s suggested today Zakaria has already agreed personal terms with Juventus, so the Bianconeri have the upper hand in negotiations and are not prepared to raise their bid, knowing he could be snapped up for free in the summer.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, the clubs are still negotiating over the nature of the €2m in bonuses.

Borussia Monchengladbach want them to be very easy to achieve, whereas Juve naturally would prefer at least some wiggle room to keep the costs down.

The other issue is that Zakaria will only be signed if Juventus manage to first place Rodrigo Bentancur.

Aston Villa now seem to have abandoned talks after their €20m plus bonuses offer was turned down, so Tottenham Hotspur are the new favourites to sign the Uruguay international.

The transfer deadline is on Monday and time is running short to get all of these different pieces in place.
