According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus have sent scouts to watch Valencia and Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The 22-year-old has recently signed a contract extension with Gennaro Gattuso’s side, so his current deal at Mestalla runs out in June 2027.

However, Juventus are keen on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s compatriot and according to Gazzetta, the Bianconeri scouts watched him in action on Tuesday during Valencia’s 1-1 draw away at Sevilla.

The Serie A giants are already looking for a potential long-term replacement for Wojciech Szczesny, whose contract runs out in June 2024.

The ex-Arsenal goalkeeper is one of the highest earners at the club with a €7m-a-year contract, so Juventus are searching for potential alternatives between the sticks given that a contract extension should not be taken for granted.

Some Premier League clubs are also interested in Mamardashvili, according to Gazzetta, but the Georgia international is not the only goalkeeper monitored by the Old Lady, who is also keeping a close eye on Marco Carnesecchi, who is on loan at Cremonese from Atalanta.

  1. It’s not about his wage costs. It’s that Szczesny is no Buffon. He’s van der Sar level and so doesn’t communicate safety at the back. OK at second fiddle but not as lead.

  2. Mamardashvili is a good goalie, however oblak contract runs of end of this season, would want him, dont care about paying for his wages – he’s rock solid.

  3. Sign Marco carnescchi or alasandro ruso both are good goll kepper.they should be number spot for National team goal keeper instetd of donarooma.
