Juventus have announced that they’ll play a pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in Tel Aviv in August.

In a statement released today, the Bianconeri confirmed that they’ll face Diego Simeone’s side on August 7 at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv at 7:45 UK time. The two sides are both looking to return to the top of their domestic leagues after tough seasons.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid last met in the Champions League group stage in 2019. In the first meeting in Spain, the match ended 2-2 after goals from Juan Cuadrado, Blaise Matuidi, Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera. The second match ended 1-0 in the Bianconeri’s favour thanks to a Paulo Dybala winner.

Considering the pragmatic nature of both Simeone and Massimiliano Allegri, it’s hard to imagine this being the most electric pre-season friendly on offer this summer.

The game will be an important warm-up for both teams ahead of the rapidly approaching 2022-23 season. Juventus’ campaign will kick off on August 15, when they face Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium.
