The Italian Referees’ Association claims that the VAR room couldn’t see Antonio Candreva in the action that saw Arkadiusz Milik’s winner for Juventus ruled offside against Salernitana.

The Bianconeri thought they’d scored a last minute winner against the Campania side in their edgy league clash last night, before the goal was chalked off due to an apparent offside.

Milik was shown a second yellow card for taking his shirt off to celebrate, a baffling decision regardless of the call, and the bitter pill was even harder to swallow when images began to circulate showing Candreva apparently playing Leonardo Bonucci onside.

Following a technical review, the Italian Referees’ Association has suggested that the VAR room overseeing the Juventus-Salernitana clash could not see the camera angle which appeared to show Candreva keeping Bonucci onside.

Below is the AIA’s statement in full:

“With regard to the Juventus-Salernitana incident, a video released at the end of the match, first on the web and then taken up by many media outlets. The technical body of CAN has viewed all the images made available by VAR for the match in question, finding no correspondence with the video in question.

“The technical body of CAN also expressly asked the company that provides the technological service for VAR if the camera in question, defined as tactical, was available to the VAR officials for the match played at the Juventus Stadium.

“The answer that was given was that the camera was not available to VAR and therefore could not be used by the referees. With this we are convinced that we have clarified the incident.”

Understandably, Juventus fans are furious at the situation, although other supporters have suggested that the team shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place.

The incident was not clear immediately after the full time whistle as broadcaster DAZN suggested that Lega Calcio had confirmed that the offside lines had been used taking Candreva into account. Later, Sky Sports Italia posted a video countering this, and DAZN rolled back on their previous claim, confusing onlookers.

But the whole world can see Candreva 😩😂 Not his fault that Bonucci’s outstretched leg has ripped you a new backside 😩😂

I bet poor Nedved is out cold post drinking his sorrows away.

  2. @Rosario Hard, back breaking work awaits you tomorrow, go relax. Drink a beer. The alarm will ring in less than 12 hours.

  3. @Rosario
Those are not tears, they’re the sweatdrops dripping from your forehead as you battle the social ladder.

Keep diverting from the topic! Your pillow must’ve been soaked post all the weeping.

  5. @Rosario
You are living in a dreamworld so I am putting you back with both your feet on the ground. Strap on your boots, your soul belongs to the company. Football is all you have, which is why you are so easy to rile up.

Riled up!! Riled up 😩😂 Says the pirla who is desperate for my input so gives me an introduction. Aw the salt. Aw the humanity.

  7. Wait how can VAR be responsible for offside calls if they can’t see the full field? This makes absolutely no sense.

  8. No need to see Candreva and this VAR thing is getting older than the ball sacks of Rosario’s padre. What is clear to see is the dire coma calcio PhD Max has served up. 2 wins out of 9 inc pre season sums it up. Benfica will be getting very excited.

  9. With this statement VAR has admitted that they were wrong and the goal should have stood. I agree that Max Allegri’s team doesn’t play well. But it doesn’t mean that referees should be forgiven for mistakes like these. Where was the linesman? Or is it now that they can have a beer during the game cause they have VAR now.

  10. Even without Candreva Bonucci was not offside. The goalkeeper had no chance of saving the ball and he was not in the goalkeepers way.

  11. Punish whoever not made the footage available to VAR then.

We want to see actions taken against the responsible person(s)!!

  12. It still doesn’t explain why the AR did not see candreva ? The system is designed to not rely on Var .. the AR needs to make a statement

  13. @Abhay
I am as shocked as you. I thought they always check the full field camera. This is truly unbelievable!

  14. lol of these PhD pantyhose fan girls are still yapping on about VAR. How about asking the 7/9 and the blind dinosaur to try moving the ball past the halfway line and trying to locate the opponents goal first and foremost. 90 mins is plenty of time but the grandad of calcio champagne prefers to do it with 3 mins left on the clock.

  15. Does this mean if a goalkeeker shorts a Long Ball to a forward the same camera will very often not have the sender and receiver in the same camera and Can because of this not call offside.
Before today this vás fixed vith a split picture but this is no longer possible ?

  16. They are lying about not being able to see the goal touchline camera. The fact that the Banucci offside image was taken from the same video but zoomed in proves that the referee was manipulated by someone in the VAR team.

  17. I swear this guy Luca Banti when I saw his name came up on the screen as a VAR referee. My feeling was unrest because he has a bad reputation in previous matches both as a referee and a VAR referee. In the end, he did mistakes again and again. I hope this guy will be banned from football. He’s a disgrace.
