Reports from Spain have linked Juventus centre back Daniele Rugani with a move to Barcelona in the coming January transfer window.

The 29-year-old Italian defender has struggled for consistent playing time under Massimiliano Allegri this season, seeing just 525 minutes of action across eight league matches. He has been used as a backup option, coming in when Danilo dealt with a muscle injury in October and November.

Rugani has just six months left on his contract with Juventus and no new deal has been agreed yet, despite the fact that talks with his entourage have been ongoing since the summer. His agent Davide Torchia recently highlighted how they ‘are waiting’ for a step forward from the club.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are looking for low-cost options to strengthen their backline in the summer and are keeping a close eye on a number of players whose contracts expire in the summer, including Rugani.

Other options for the Blaugrana include Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof, Tottenham’s Eric Dier, Fiorentina’s Yerry Mina,    RB Leipzig’s Lukas Klostermann, Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Atletico Madrid’s Axel Witsel.
