Juventus have announced their midfielder Adrien Rabiot has suffered a muscle injury, so he will miss Sunday’s friendly encounter with Barcelona.

Rabiot returned to training last week, but he will be forced out of action against the La Liga giants when the Bianconeri meet them in the Gamper Trophy next weekend.

“Due to a muscle problem reported at the end of yesterday’s training session, Adrien Rabiot underwent diagnostic tests this morning at J|Medical which revealed a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris muscle of the left thigh,” Juventus official statement read.

“In 10 days he will undergo new exams to precisely define the recovery time.”

Rabiot joined Juventus on a free transfer from PSG in the summer of 2019.

He has six goals and four assists in 84 appearances in all competitions with the Bianconeri.

Juventus won their first two friendly matches this summer against Cesena and Monza.

Rabiot played 67 minutes against Monza last weekend.
