Juventus prepare player cull

Juventus want Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira to terminate their contracts, while new coach Andrea Pirlo cuts many players from the squad.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Pirlo is ready to enact a cull of the old guard as he takes over from Maurizio Sarri.

The main concern is that Higuain and Khedira have no intention of terminating their contracts early, whereas Juventus are working to make that happen.

These two veterans will both want at least some of the outstanding salary as a golden handshake to leave the club, so it will be a costly operation.

After Blaise Matuidi broke away to join MLS side Inter Miami as a free agent, Juve are hoping Khedira and Higuain will follow his lead.

Others are up for sale and will raise funds for other transfers, such as Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa and potentially also Alex Sandro.

Mattia Perin is no longer required, so having spent the second half of the season on loan at Genoa, is now on sale with interest from Fulham.

Daniele Rugani is also on the way out, but Sky Sport Italia insist the reports of Arsenal offering Hector Bellerin in exchange are not true.
