Juventus have not changed their stance on injury-prone Paul Pogba and hope the Frenchman will play a key role in 2023-24.

The former Manchester United midfielder was forced off the pitch after just 22 minutes on Sunday in a Serie A match against Cremonese, his first one as a starter in 2022-23.

Exams undergone at the J Medical on Monday highlighted a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris in his left thigh, which means his season is already over.

Pogba is the highest earner at the Allianz Stadium with an €8m-a-year contract plus €2m add-ons, so Juventus have paid circa €65,000 for every minute the Frenchman has played this term.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (Tuesday’s printed edition, page 16), Juventus’ stance on their troubled midfielder has not changed. Club director Francesco Calvo said two months ago that the Bianconeri still rely on the 30-year-old and club directors have not changed their mind.

As highlighted by Gazzetta, Pogba remains at the core of Juventus’ project even if his recurrent injuries are causing concern at the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus are expected to part ways with Adrien Rabiot at the end of the season with Pogba’s compatriot unlikely to extend his expiring contract in Turin.

According to the pink paper, Davide Frattesi is Juventus’ main transfer target to strengthen the midfield next season, hoping Pogba will be fit enough to play most games in 2023-24.
