Hellas Verona and Italy Under-21 international Gianluca Frabotta, on loan from Juventus, will be out for eight weeks after Achilles tendon surgery.
The 22-year-old left-back had already been on the treatment table all season due to a calf issue after joining Verona on loan.
Hellas have an option to buy and Juventus retain a counter-option.
Following a specialist consultation, Frabotta was advised to go under the knife to resolve the issue with the Achilles tendon in his right leg.
The operation was a success, performed by Professor Atillio Santucci at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
A statement from Hellas Verona confirms Frabotta is expected to be out of action for circa eight weeks.
