Sassuolo’s sporting director Giovanni Carnevali appears to confirm Juventus have a buyback clause on Domenico Berardi.

The Italian Under-21 international had previously been co-owned between the two clubs, but was bought outright by the Neroverdi for €10m.

Given the striker is one of the hottest prospects in Italy, there was speculation that the Old Lady would retain a buyback clause, and Carnevali appears to confirm that’s the case.

Given the striker is one of the hottest prospects in Italy, there was speculation that the Old Lady would retain a buyback clause, and Carnevali appears to confirm that’s the case.

“We have an excellent relationship with Juventus,” the director told Radio Crc.

“When the player is put on the market, they’ll have priority.”

Carnevali could of course have been referring to a more informal arrangement, but given that a similar clause was in effect when Simone Zaza transferred to Mapei Stadium, it seems likely the Bianconeri have a buyback option.
