Juventus say exams undergone by Wojciech Szczesny ‘ ruled out any fractures or significant ligament capsule injuries.’

The Poland international had been forced off the pitch during last night’s 2-0 win over Spezia at the Allianz Stadium and underwent medical examinations in the morning.

“After spraining his ankle, last night Szczesny underwent radiological examinations at J|Medical which ruled out any fractures or significant ligament capsule injuries,” Juventus said in an official statement.

“His availability will be evaluated on the basis of the development of the injury.”

It remains to be seen how many games the ex-Roma and Arsenal goalkeeper will miss. Juventus have five more games to be played across all competitions before the break at the end of September.

Szczesny had just returned to action following a muscle injury suffered in the final pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid.

Mattia Perin replaced him in the first two games of the season against Sassuolo and Sampdoria and is set to start in the upcoming matches, starting from Saturday’s away game against Fiorentina.
