Juventus and Fiorentina have joined Milan in the race to sign River Plate starlet Julian Alvarez, who could move to Serie A in January.

The 21-year-old sees his contract expire in December 2022 and the Argentinean club have recently met the player’s entourage to discuss an extension.

According to Calciomercato.com, Alvarez has a €20m release clause included in his contract and the player does not want to leave his boyhood club as a free agent.

However, Atletico Madrid and at least three Serie A clubs are interested in securing his services, starting from January.

Milan seemed to be in pole position to sign the versatile striker, but according to reports from Calciomercato.com, Tuttosport and Il Corriere dello Sport, Juventus and Fiorentina have joined the Rossoneri in the race to sign the 21-year-old.

According to the reports, Fiorentina director Nicolas Burdisso is on good terms with River Plate’s executives and La Viola are preparing an offer for January.

Juventus will also make a formal proposal for the striker who has netted 15 goals in 16 appearances in the Argentinean Super Liga this season.

  1. What’s with Juve arriving late and stealing Milan targets as of late? Who’s their sporting director now anyway?

I mean wasn’t Kaio Jorge enough? As if Allegri will ever play them.

  2. @Milan Fan. Speaking of Kaio Jorge, he will play even less if Alvarez arrives there. Oh well. My guess is that Milan will dither and not get him.

  3. This young man will ruin his career if he went to Juventus. Kaio Jorge should have gone to Milan where they have a project built around youth and a coach perfect for that setup. Allegri only likes old timers.
