Juventus will travel to Sassuolo without Arthur, Weston McKennie and Manuel Locatelli, but their injury crisis in midfield could continue until the end of the season.

Adrien Rabiot and Denis Zakaria remain the only players available for Max Allegri in the middle of the park for tomorrow’s game at the Mapei Stadium. Danilo has been deployed in central midfield over the last few weeks and the same could happen tomorrow.

Arthur could return to action against Venezia next week, but Locatelli and McKennie may not be back before 2022-23.

Locatelli was ruled out for four weeks at the beginning of the month following a collateral knee sprain. McKennie had suffered a compound fracture of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones of his left foot in Juventus’ Champions League clash against Villarreal in February.

Allegri initially said the USMNT international would not return before the end of the season but then claimed that the midfielder had a slight chance to be back for the last few games of the campaign. He didn’t seem so optimistic during a pre-match press conference today.

“McKennie ran a little yesterday, so he is improving, but the end of the season is close,” the coach said.

“Locatelli is still behind. I don’t know if he will be back before the end of the campaign.”

Juventus are five points above fifth-placed Roma with a game in hand, but the most important game of the season is the Coppa Italia Final on May 11 against Inter. As of today, it’s unlikely that McKennie and Locatelli will be fit for the match against the Nerazzurri and the last few games of 2021-22.

  1. Would have not made any difference even with a fit starting 11. PhD Max jacket thrower, tosser and dumper of the touchline has a set way of playing and CALMA is code for retreat, ball goes backward and do not venture past the half way line.

  2. Perfect chance to give Fabio Miretti a chance in midfield, but of course Allegri won’t play an 18 year old no matter how talented he is. With Cuadrado out, Danilo has to play at right back.
