Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is desperate to sign Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, but his high price tag may force the club to wait until the summer, reports suggest.

The Bianconeri are aware that midfield reinforcements are needed after the suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, but their efforts to be sustainable limit how much they can spend in the coming January transfer window.

Juventus are looking to pick up Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips on a six-month loan deal and could generate some funds from the sales of young talents like Samuel Iling-Junior and Matias Soule, the latter of whom is being targeted by Crystal Palace.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Atalanta want at least €45m for Koopmeiners in January, a fee Juventus seem unlikely to offer unless they manage to find the right deals for Iling-Junior, Soule and Turkish starlet Kenan Yildiz.

Giuntoli believes the 25-year-old Dutchman would be the perfect addition to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad and may have to wait until the summer to push through a deal for the midfielder.

This season, Koopmeiners has scored three goals and provided four assists across 19 games for Atalanta. He is happy in Bergamo and has not expressed a desire to leave despite the Old Lady’s interest.
