Juventus have made the first approach to rescind Aaron Ramsey’s contract, according to reports.

The Wales international joined on a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer of 2019 but has struggled to nail down a starting place, with a succession of injuries hampering his progress.

He made just five appearances in all competitions in the first half of this season before moving loan to Rangers for the second part.

Ramsey’s €7 million-a-year salary has made it difficult to offload him and Goal report initial steps to cancel his contract have been made.

The situation is similar to that which faced striker Gonzalo Higuain whose contract was cancelled in the summer of 2020 and he moved to Inter Miami on a free transfer.

In all, Ramsey has made 70 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons with Juve where he won a Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa.

His loan move to Rangers ended on a negative note as well as he was the only player to miss a penalty in the Europa League final, which handed Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt the victory
