Domenico Berardi remains at Sassuolo this coming season, but it’s reported Juventus will lose their option on the player.

The wide forward had a ‘moral clause’ giving Juve the right to purchase him this summer for €25m.

The two clubs and player agreed that this was not in his best interests, so Berardi will stay at Sassuolo and take part in the Europa League.

It was expected that Juve would be back in for Berardi next year, but Sky Sport Italia suggest things have changed radically.

They claim that Juventus will lose that option and therefore start next season’s bidding war on the same level as the other clubs.

Inter have been making attempts to sign Berardi, while Tottenham Hotspur were also heavily linked with the Italy Under-21 international.

Not turning 22 until August, he has an extraordinary record of 38 goals and 23 assists in 90 Serie A appearances.

However, his temperament is a cause for concern, as he also picked up three straight red cards and 33 bookings in the same period.

This side to his personality, and the probable lack of regular playing time in Turin, are what convinced Berardi and Juventus to abandon their union this summer.
