Thiago Motta’s Juventus lost 3-0 to FC Nürnberg in their first summer friendly seeing Dusan Vlahovic miss a penalty kick in the second half.

Juventus lost their first pre-season friendly and the first match under new coach Thiago Motta 3-0 on Friday.

FC Nürnberg, a German team playing in the 2. Bundesliga and coached by ex-Lazio striker Miroslav Klose, secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against a Bianconeri team still without many starters.

Thiago Motta started two new signings, Michele Di Gregorio and Khephren Thuram, and many players from the NextGen squad.

Juan Cabal, another new summer signing, played as a centre-back in the second half.

Thiago Motta included in the starting XI all the players who have been working with him since the start of the pre-season so those who returned from holiday after the Euros, such as Dusan Vlahovic, initially went on the bench.

The hosts broke the deadlock at minute 19 with Jander. Luis Hasa has the best chance in the game for Juventus with a first-half free kick, saved by Jan Reichert.

Vlahovic, Andrea Cambiaso, Federico Gatti, Nicolò Fagioli and Timothy Weah were introduced in the second half. Vlahovic had a chance to equalise from a spot kick earned by Weah but hit the post. Dustin Forkel and Tim Janisch scored in the final minutes to make it 3-0 for the German side.

  1. @Ediie – don’t be so ridiculous. You really expect Motta to change three years of horrible football in one game?
