Arthur Melo underlined his desire to show his skills for Liverpool after he recovers from an operation that’ll keep him sidelined for around three months.

The Brazilian midfielder has not had an easy time since joining the Reds on loan on transfer deadline day. He was forced to build his match fitness with the Under-21 squad and just as he was close to breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s squad, he suffered an injury in training that required surgical intervention, forcing him out of action for at least three months.

Writing on his Instagram page, Arthur sent a message to the Liverpool fans following the recent news.

“Last week was not the best for me… Sadly, as you know, an unfortunate injury to my left thigh will keep me out of action for a while. It comes just at time when, after huge effort and lots of hard work, I was ready to establish myself in my new team and determined to fight for my dream of playing at the World Cup.

“It is now time for me to keep my head up and join forces with my family and do everything I need to with my team to make sure I come back stronger as soon as possible. No obstacle will prevent me from progressing in my career and I have great ambition to show what I can do on the pitch.

“In the meantime, I will continue to support my Liverpool teammates and my beloved Brazil national team.

“Thanks for all the messages of support!”

Arthur was not included in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans in Turin after last season and was left in Italy when the team travelled to the United States for their pre-season tour. He made 31 appearances across all competitions last season for Juventus, providing one assist across his 1533 minutes of action.

  1. bad news for him, wish him speedy recovery, however he needs to think about his next club – not cut out for the top clubs
