According to multiple sources, Juventus are considering making a loan move for former Liverpool midfielder and England vice-captain Jordan Henderson, who is reportedly pushing for a move away from Saudi Arabia.
The 2019 Champions League winning captain raised eyebrows with his move from Liverpool to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in a deal reported to be worth around €14m (£12m) in the summer transfer window.
Henderson’s venture to the Middle East came with plenty of criticism at the time, as he had been the face of numerous equality and inclusivity campaigns and had been an ally of the LGBTQ+ community in the years prior to his move.
Now, just over six-months into his spell with Al-Ettifaq, Henderson is reportedly pushing for a return to Europe.
Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Juventus, who are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, have spoken to the 33-year-old about a possible loan deal. Il Corriere dello Sport also ran a similar story in Saturday morning’s print edition.
However, according to Saturday’s reports, there is a slight contradiction in the desired length of the potential deal.
Henderson is said to be looking for an 18-month loan deal.
If Juventus were to secure a move for the 81-time England international, they would likely need to make some adjustments first. Moise Kean has been linked with a loan move away from the Allianz Stadium this month, which would free up more room in the Bianconeri budget.
Juventus also have other targets to consider, and have been in talks with Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic and his entourage over a permanent move.
Henderson has other rumoured suitors as well, including struggling Ajax and Premier League Brighton according to reports from local paper The Argus.
