Paul Pogba has underlined his desire to feel appreciated and happy ahead of a possible free transfer to Juventus.

The 29-year-old Frenchman is close to returning to Turin and signing for the Bianconeri, with a deal expected to be finalised in the coming weeks. Pogba did not have a particularly positive six years with Manchester United, being much criticised by both fans and pundits alike.

Speaking in an interview with UNINTERRUPTED, Pogba spoke about what he’s looking for as his career progresses.

“I just want the best for me, I’m thinking like putting everything together. Take my time and I’m just looking for the best. I just want to play football, be myself always and enjoy what I do.

“I need to enjoy what I do because otherwise I cannot perform well. I don’t want to be thinking negative. We can be losing games, losing trophies but you have to be happy where you are and enjoy yourself. That’s what I’m looking for.”

The 29-year-old French midfielder commented on what he feels is important in football and his desire to feel loved.

“As long as you click first of all with the team, the fans, with the club that knows you and loves you. When you’re free mentally, you enjoy yourself and that’s when you perform.

“Everyone wants to feel loved, everybody needs that, your soul needs that. Its always good to feel that the work you do is appreciated.

“People around make a huge difference because they can cheer you up or bring you down.”

Pogba previously spent four years of his career with Juventus from 2012 to 2016, where he made 178 appearances across all competitions. He scored 34 goals and provided 40 assists in that time, rising to prominence as one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe.

He struggled to transition this quality to the Premier League, suffering as Manchester United failed to find their footing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
