Juventus have been reported to be lining up heirs to Wojciech Szczesny’s goalkeeping throne at the Allianz Stadium, with the 32-year-old’s longer term future not yet decided either way.

The Polish international has a contract until the end of the 2023-24 season with the option of extending for a further year, and with 13 clean sheets from 20 Serie A appearances this year, performances have not been unimpressive.

However, Szczesny is among the highest earners at the club, reported by Tuttosport to be on around €13m per season, and could be moved on should the right offer come in.

At the time of writing, Juve’s financial situation for next year is still unclear. The club could still qualify for Champions League football next year, or on the other end of the scale, miss out on European football altogether.

If the Bianconeri were to try and reduce their wage bill, Szczesny could be one of the key figures who gets sacrificed.

According to Tuttosport, Juve are already looking at two Italian shot stoppers in Marco Carnesecchi of Atalanta, currently on loan at Cremonese, and Guglielmo Vicario of Empoli

Mattia Perin is almost certain to stay on as a back-up option whatever happens, as his contract runs until 2025.
