Juventus fly out for their pre-season training retreat in Germany tomorrow, but coach Thiago Motta leaves behind some players, including Federico Chiesa.

The Bianconeri will be staying for a week at the World of Sports complex in Herzogenaurach, the same venue that was Germany’s base for the EURO 2024 tournament this summer.

Not all the players will be making the trip to Germany, though, as Thiago Motta is whittling down the squad for various reasons.

Some are transfer-listed and trying to find new clubs, others are not in great physical shape and need to work more closely with the Juventus medical staff in Turin.

Juventus cut Chiesa and others from squad

Among the biggest names not going for pre-season is Chiesa, whose contract is running down and widely expected to move on this summer.

He has another reason not to come along, though, as he is also getting married to fiancée Lucia.

Arthur Melo, Mattia De Sciglio, Filip Kostic, Arkadiusz Milik, Weston McKennie and Wojciech Szczesny are not going to be part of the group, so will remain at the Continassa training complex in Turin.

Of those players, Arthur, De Sciglio, Kostic and Milik are carrying injuries, while McKennie and Szczesny were given extra time off after international duty.

Despite participating in EURO 2024, Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Gatti and Andrea Cambiaso will be in Germany.

  1. I think the main reason is that he is getting married 🤦🏻‍♂️
I’m though surprised you managed to mention a US player without writing ‘USMNT’ 😂

  2. Yeah no need to panic and I heard Fede is having fish and chips for the main course, but is not too keen on chip shop curry sauce, tartare sauce. Though he does love a squeeze of lemon and some good old mushy peas.
