Juventus launch new appeal against CONSOB investigation

According to reports on Saturday afternoon, Juventus have decided to launch an appeal to the Regional Administration Court in Lazio against the CONSOB investigation into the club’s budget and salary manoeuvres over the last few years.

CONSOB, the Italian Companies and Exchange Commission, are responsible for monitoring and regulating dealings of clubs listed on the stock exchange, including Juventus.

As a result of Juve’s financial irregularities and alleged false accounting on the club’s budgets in recent years, the team were hit with an eventual -10 point deduction in Serie A towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

They were also excluded from competing in European competitions by UEFA for the 2023-24 season, having breached the organisation’s rules on Financial Fair Play.

Though Juventus have already gone through numerous trials with various regulatory bodies, in October 2023, CONSOB detected issues with the club’s financial statements posted in June and December of 2022.

Juve’s appeal to the Regional Administrative Court in Lazio relates specifically to CONSOB’s findings in October 2023.

Prior to the appeal, Juventus posted a statement on the club’s website, stating that they do not agree with CONSOB’s findings.

“CONSOB’s findings are based on interpretations and subjective application of accounting rules: Judgements and assessments that Juventus does not share.”
