Juventus insist their players’ rights are ‘fully recognized and guaranteed’ after AIC President Umberto Calcagno accused the Bianconeri of trampling on Leonardo Bonucci’s dignity.

Juventus reacted to Calcagno’s latest interview with ANSA with an official statement published on their official website Wednesday afternoon.

Although they never mention Bonucci directly, the statement effectively responds to Calcagno’s claims.

“Juventus Football Club strongly reaffirm the correctness of actions towards all registered players who are fully recognized and guaranteed all the rights provided by the Collective Agreement category,” the Bianconeri said in a statement.

“Juventus are also ready, if necessary, to defend the legitimacy of their conduct in all relevant fora.”

This means the Serie A giants would be ready to start a legal battle with their experienced defender if he decides to sue the club.

“Furthermore, Juventus hope that the problem concerning a balance between players’ rights and the clubs’ needs will be faced once and for all during negotiations for a new collective agreement between AIC and Lega Serie A taking place ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.”

Bonucci, who was Juventus’ captain in 2022-23, has been frozen out of the squad and has been training separately from the rest of the group this summer. He didn’t join his teammates for a pre-season tour in the USA in July and Juventus hope to find a new club for the Italy international, who has one year left in his contract at the Allianz Stadium.

Bonucci, on the other hand, is not considering leaving and formally demanded to be reintegrated into the team, but Juventus are not going to change their stance.
