Dusan Vlahovic’s agent Darko Ristic has been in Turin recently, negotiating with Juventus as the club look to spread the striker’s current salary out in a new long-term deal.

The 23-year-old Serbian striker started the new season well, scoring four goals and providing one assist across the first four games, but a six-game goal drought saw confidence in the striker start to wane again.

Vlahovic was expected to be the leading figure in Juventus’ post-Cristiano Ronaldo era, justifying their €80m total investment, but his 28 goals in 76 games for the club have proven disappointing, even if this can be partly explained by Massimiliano Allegri’s pragmatic system.

La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW details how Vlahovic’s salary will rise to €12m net per season from July onwards, valid for the last two years of his contract with Juventus.

The club, now moving in a more sustainable direction, cannot afford such a costly salary, so are looking to offer him a new long-term contract which’ll spread out his wages. The idea would be to lower his salary to around €8-9m net per season and extend the deal to 2027 or 2028.

Vlahovic is happy at Juventus and is keen to move forward with the club, but much depends on his willingness to lower his salary. Otherwise, a convincing offer in the summer could whisk him away from Turin.
