Juventus could go after Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte in the upcoming transfer window to help bolster the Bianconeri’s diminished defensive options.
The Old Lady are said to be looking out for an international-level centre-back to come into the starting line-up next season, as options in Massimiliano Allergi’s back-line have been relatively few over this year.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Laporte’s name is the one that is currently attracting the most interest from Juve’s directors.
Born in France, but currently representing Spain on the international stage, where he had spent eight years plying his trade as a youngster, Laporte is recognised for both his defensive strengths as well as his impressive ball-playing ability.
The 28-year-old is currently tied to Manchester City until the summer of 2025 and comes with a price tag of around €30m according to reports.
Laoprte also takes home somewhere in the region of €7m per season in Manchester, although Juve hope that his desire to start a new chapter of his career after a knee injury has kept him on the City sidelines for most of this year will be enough to convince him to re-think his wage demands.
City currently have an excess of top-level central defenders on their books with England international John Stones, as well as Ruben Dias of Portugal, Switzerland’s Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake of the Netherlands competing with Laporte for a starting spot in Pep Guardiola’s back four.
As well as Brazilian international Bremer, Juve’s current options include captain Leonardo Bonucci, as well as compatriots Daniele Rugani and Federico Gatti, although Allegri and his team have identified the defensive department as an area for improvement in the summer.
