Juventus are lining up Pau Torres as their top replacement for Matthijs de Ligt but they’re hoping to a secure a discount from Villarreal.

The 25-year-old Spanish defender has attracted the attention of a number of clubs around Europe this summer following his strong campaign under Unai Emery. Premier League sides Tottenham and Manchester City are known to be keen, so the Bianconeri will have to work fast if they want to agree a transfer.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus do want to pick up Torres but they cannot afford his €50m price tag, so they’re hoping to agree a lower fee with Villarreal. Their plan is to try and leverage the fact that the 25-year-old is keen on the move to Turin.

First, Juventus are waiting to finalise the sale of De Ligt to Bayern Munich, which is expected to take place at some point next week.

  1. The market has been completely broken by silly deals like those for Maguire. Champ league semi finalist, europa league winner, Spanish international and a very composed defender. Villarreal can argue that if Maguire is worth 80m, then why shouldn’t they ask for 50m plus for him?

  2. @Rosario, you’re absolutely right. English clubs paying insane money for mediocre players has completely screwed the market up. I don’t blame them for asking for 50 mil, but he’s not worth that much. Maguire was worth maybe 35 lol.

  3. Juve fans got upset that Bayern made a low offer now want to do the same to Villarreal. Forget about spending big. They should go and shop in the limey dump called Chipland, home of the people with a stupid look on their faces. Go to the Championship. George Evans of Millwall fits the profile. He is cheap, not too young for PhD Max and at the level of the present Juve.

  4. He has time to post on everything so he’s either a kid, a guy claiming benefits (in which case he should join Ramsey at Juve… Or maybe he is Ramsey?), or just a lazy unemployed chod. Still, hope he’s happy because he probably isn’t given his attitude in every post.
