Max Allegri is suspended for tomorrow’s Serie A match between Juventus and Monza, so fans hope assistant Marco Landucci can continue his remarkable record of stepping in.

The game kicks off at the U-Power Stadium on Sunday at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT).

The Bianconeri are in crisis after a series of dismal results, including a 2-1 home Champions League defeat to Benfica and 2-2 Serie A draw with Salernitana.

It was protesting at the last-gasp disallowed Arkadiusz Milik goal that saw Allegri sent off and therefore handed a one-match touchline ban.

He’ll be replaced on the bench by assistant manager Landucci, and fans hope history repeats itself with the understudy.

There were already running gags on social media in January 2022 when Landucci took over from Allegri due to suspension in a 4-1 Coppa Italia victory over Udinese and the comeback from 3-1 down to beat Roma 4-3 in Serie A.

Juve supporters noted the difference on the touchline between a coach who tends to shout ‘Calm down’ and another who was caught on camera urging his players to move the ball ‘faster.’

Allegri at the time joked perhaps Juve played better with Landucci at the helm, but if that is confirmed against Monza, he might not be so amused.

  1. You never know. When Hiroshima Max, legend of atomic coma calcio was suspended last season against Roma, the 7/9 did something not seen in 100 years. They scored 4 goals. I doubt that will happen again. Better for the aspiring team of Europe to hire a priest with a rosary and the good book.

  2. Fatecisognare I do like your eternal optimism. Now tell me what brand of crack are you smoking?
